There is no rigid definition of what makes an outlier, but for other coffee nerds we’ve listed a few Australian favourites we believe share Outlier Espresso’s principles for the morning fix.

Note, this is in no particular order and is certainly not exhaustive. If you know of a gem, please get in touch to share the find.

Sunshine Coast

Pedro and Grizz

The espresso bar at Tim Adams Specialty Coffee roastery in Warana does everything right. It’s the most recently opened venue on our list and quite simply sets the bar for Outlier Espresso.

Between the Flags

This café at Dicky Beach is the parent of local roaster The Flags Coffee Co. So good and always a pleasure to visit.

Groundskeeper Willie

Small family run roastery in Moffat Beach. Great coffee with options for the connoisseur.

Brisbane

Edward Espresso

At the end of the train trip to Brisbane lies excellent coffee. A reward for making the voyage to the big city.

Blackstar Coffee Roasters

A West End jewel. Great place to enjoy some of the best coffee Brisbane has on offer.

Wolff Coffee Roasters

Discovered whilst getting the car fixed in Hendra. To echo the mechanic’s words, one of the best flat whites I’ve had.

Further away

Little Pony Espresso, Miranda NSW

The reason for making Miranda a favourite stop when working south of Sydney. Other favourite stops for those who prefer a sit-down experience include Sutherland (Flora Street Espresso) plus several others serving White Horse coffee.

Primary, Potts Point NSW

A short walk from a very good friend’s place. With so many options around these guys stand out by keeping it simple.

Black Market Coffee, Marrickville NSW

Awesome roastery and espresso bar. A tip-off from an industry insider that was well worth the visit.

Victoria

It’s been a long time since I’ve visited the southeastern end of Australia. But I know there are an abundance of Notable Outliers, so watch this space for updates.
